Depression

Almost everyone feels down from time to time.  Maybe you lost a job, had an argument, ect.  Then circumstances change and those sad feelings disappear.   Clinical depression is different because it doesn’t go away just because a situation has come to and end and can happen with no trigger at all. We stop taking care of ourselves, isolate ourselves, struggle to get out of bed, and have overwhelming feelings of guilt and shame.  Often we suffer in silence trying to white knuckle it through because there is no “reason” for us to feel so bad all of the time.

It takes the average person suffering from mental illness over 10 years to ask for help and depression is the leading cause of sickness and disability in the world.  You don’t have to suffer in silence anymore.  I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral therapy, EMDR, and Solution Focused therapy to help you get back on your feet and feeling like you again.

Anxiety

Anxiety is the very real and normal emotion we feel in a stressful situation.  It’s related to fear but while fear is a response to an immediate threat, anxiety is a response to a non-specific threat that can last for long periods of time.  When we can’t pinpoint the source of the fear, our brain sends signals to our body to be in a constant state of fight or flight.  This can cause constant worry, overwhelm, trouble sleeping, rumination, tense muscles, and difficulty concentrating which can be generally be disruptive to all the areas of your life.

The good news is that there‘s treatment that is very effective so you don’t have to struggle anymore.  I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral therapy, mindfulness, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems to help lower your anxiety and give you relief so that you can get back to the life you deserve.
